11 am: Itty Bitty Scientists: Feed the Birds

All Summer Long Fun, hands-on science for toddlers and their parents is back again this year. Join us and bring along a friend, too! Programs are FREE with admission. 11 am: HIV/AIDS Jazz Luncheon and Fashion Show

The Jazz Luncheon and Fashion Show will be an annual benefit hosted by Steeple Community. The purpose of this event is to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS and substance abuse in Shreveport, Bossier and the surrounding areas. These funds will assist in developing programs in our community to help raise awareness and to assist other nonprofit organizations to better be able to serve the communities in need, plus to develop a scholarship account benefiting high school graduates from Caddo, Bossier, Desoto and Webster Parish majoring in science-related fields. A play by Sheri Bailey, "Tidewater" is the story of two small-town Virginia families who share almost seventy years of love, loss adn transcendence. FRIDAY, JUNE 12TH


10 am: Job Fair @ Remington College

Remington College and KTBS 3 has partnered together for a job fair, which is open to the public and will include up to 50 local employers. Remington College is located at 2106 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in South Shreveport.




5 pm: Author! Author! Shreveport-Bossier Book Festival @ Municipal Auditorium

Promoting reading and literacy and also to raise funds for Friends of the Municipal Auditorium. June 12, "The Prologue" meet and mingle with the authors; June 13, book festival with 25 authors presenting their latest releases and will be available for sale, authors will discuss and signcopies of their books. Bookworms in the Ballroom with activities for children including a storying telling, crafts, and face painting. Cost is $20, meet & greet; $2, book festival; free, children 11 and younger. This event also runs on Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm.







SATURDAY, JUNE 13TH


7 am: Shreveport Farmers Market Opening Day @ Festival Plaza

The Shreveport Farmers' Market opens for the summer season with a performance by The Blanchard Jammers. The markets will offer locally-grown vegetables and fruits, locally-raised meats, fresh gulf shrimp, Longhorn beef, chickens, eggs, artisan sausage, freshly-roasted coffee, canned fruits and vegetables, jams and jellies, salsas, granola, baked goods, soups, dips, herbs and herbal products, live plants, Louisiana wines, an array of other foods and crafts, and live music performances. The Tuesday afternoon markets will take place from June 16-July 28, from 3-6 p.m.




8 am: Cruisin' For Kids @ Water Town USA

Northwest Louisiana Car Club Council will present its 12th Annual Cruisin' For Kids Open Car Show, with all proceeds benefiting the Gingerbread House of NW Louisiana. Attendees will enjoy more than 100 vintage and new show automobiles and motorcycles. Admission is $20, advance registration; $25, at door to exhibit.




8:30 am: Shreveport Orchid Society 2009 Summer Workshop @ Barnwell Gardens

The Shreveport Orchid Society and Friends of the Barnwell Center will present a summer workshop "How to Grow Orchids." Fee is $20, includes a free plant.




9 am: Greenwood Farmers Market @ William Peters Town Park (Greenwood)

Vendors will have available for sale fresh produce, eggs, honey, meat pies, tamales, jams and jellies, natural granola, bird houses, fresh plants, dog and cat treats, pickled vegetables, natural skin care products, monogrammed baby clothes, grass fed bed, cookies, breads, brownies, wood items and more. Lobo, a two-year old long horn steer, will be visiting June 6. This event is located off Hwy 80 in Greenwood.





9 am: 'Rolling on the Red' Chili Cook-Off @ Holiday Inn-Financial Plaza

Sponsored by the LA-CASI Louisianne Chili Pod, to benefit the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission. There will be two divisions, CASI Open Chili, CASI rule apply, and a local Open Division, anything goes chili. Admission is $20, team registration; $3, tasting cups for the public; free, admission. 11 am: Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana Pet Adoptions @ PETCO

12 pm: Pet Savers Pet Adoptions @ Pet Savers Inc.

12 pm: Military Appreciation Day @ Yogie and Friends Exotic Cat Sanctuary

Honoring our military men and women, veterans and active duty, with refreshments and admission, military ID required. Admission is free, for active military, retirees, and reservists with military ID. Yogie and Friends is located in Frierson, LA.




4 pm: Shreveport NFL Celebrity Game @ Century Tel Center

This charity game will feature pro football players playing basketball! All proceeds will benefit Fire Battalion Chief Tommy Adams. Go HERE to get more information and to buy tickets! And there you'll also see who's playing in the game! Tickets are $15 general admission and $25 for VIP.




7 pm: Rock, Roll, and Remember Dance @ Riverview Hall

The March of Dimes North Louisiana Division will hold its annual dance, a premier fundraiser that benefits all babies. Music will be provided by Louisiana Outlaws. Includes a bourbon tasting, balloon drop, dance contests, food, cash bar, and silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes Foundation. General admission tickets are free with a donation to March of Dimes, and are available at the March of Dimes office, 1120 S. Pointe Parkway and at local Capital One Bank locations; $250-$1,000, sponsorship tables.




7 pm: Shreveport Aftershock v. The Dallas Diamonds

1 pm: 2009 Youth Football Camp @ Independence Stadium

Come join LSU Head Coach Les Miles for the 3rd Annual Youth Football Camp. The camp is open to students in the 4th-8th grades. Kids are invited to come work on Fundamentals, Technique and Skills needed to play the game of football. participants will receive individual instruction and will be broken into groups to work on specific position techniques and more. This event is FREE!!! Registration begins at Noon on the day of the camp. This event is sponsored by Caddo Public Schools and Word of Faith Church International.
