10:35 am -- Shreveport Captains vs. Grand Prairie AirHogs @ Fairgrounds Field

Shreveport Captains vs. Grand Prairie AirHogs. This is a two-day event. The 2nd game is at 7:05 pm on Thursday night. Admission is $5.




1 pm: Farmers' Market in Keithville @ Flashback Casino

11 am: 26th Annual Mudbug Madness Festival Kickoff @ Festival Plaza

Three entertainment stages, children's activities, Creole food, Louisiana crafts, crawfish and other Cajun favorites. Party Central will offer games and face painting. 1 pm: The Authentic Bonnie and Clyde Festival 2009 in Downtown Gibsland

Mock bank robberies and shoot-outs, food, arts and crafts, a meeting of historians and crime buffs with a jambalaya meal, salad and dessert; vendors, gospel music, a street dance, a Lion's Club pancake breakfast, live entertainment a parade and more. SATURDAY, MAY 23RD


9 am: Junk In The Trunk Sale @ Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

Sellers may rent parking lot spaces, setup at 7:30 a.m. Refreshments and snacks will be available. Sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Youth Ministry. Cost to participate/sell is $25. Admission for buyers is free. PHBC is located at 4670 Lakeshore Drive.




10 am: Civil War Encampment and Cannon Firing @ Mansfield State Historic Site

A period Civil War encampment, complete with authentically uniformed soldiers and equipment. Hosted by the 4th Louisiana Artillery Battery, activities will include live cannon firing demonstrations, a period Civil War field hospital with surgical demonstrations, a Civil War-era telegraph office and a 19th century undertaker and embalmer's impression. The 8th Texas Cavalry Regiment will conduct horse-cavalry presentations. The site is located at 15149 Highway 175 in Mansfield. Admission: $2, ages 13-61; free, children 12 and younger, and seniors 62 and older. This event also runs on Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.




10 am: Memorial Day Service @ Hamilton/South Caddo Library

A community celebration in honor of the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Refreshments will be served.




10 am: Bossier Animal Control's Adoption Days @ PetSmart (Bossier City)

A play by David Harrower, which tells the story of a woman who confronts a man about the devastating cost of their illicit relationship 15 years ago. 9 pm: The All-White Extravaganza @ Adam’s Lounge (Bossier City)

5 pm: Memorial Day Salute to Veterans Program @ Paradise Baptist Church

Representatives from the U.S. Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force will be present. A musical prelude will be performed by a 20-member wind and string ensemble.Veterans living and deceased of members and friends will be honored. The church is located at 1706 Hollywood Ave.




9 pm: Glow Party @ Phoenix Underground

May 24, 9 p.m., Glow Party, no cover until 11 p.m., $5 cover after 11 p.m. Phoenix is located at 600 Market St. in downtown Shreveport.









MONDAY, MAY 25TH (Memorial Day Observed)


Mondays are Murder: The Films of Alfred Hitchcock @ Robinson Film Center

A selection of Hitchcock films have been painstakingly restored in HD, re-mixed for 5.1 surround sound, and made available to theaters exclusively through this series. This week’s feature: Frenzy. Tickets are $5.75-$8.75 (buy tickets).
