The Queensborough Neighborhood Association will prepare and electronically file your 2008 federal and state income taxes. Bring in your W-2, identification, and social security card for you and all dependents. Saturdays are by appointment only. Filing will be available each weekday from 9 am to 4:30 pm. 12 pm: Pre-Easter Luncheons @ Noel Memorial United Methodist Church

5:30 pm – Film Auditions @ BPCC

BPCC Film Institute will hold auditions to cast talent for its summer film project, titled "At War with the Ants." Need male and female actors from young 20s to upper 30s, two children: one African American girl (around three years old) and one Caucasian boy (around six years old). Interested persons are asked to come with a photo. The auditions will be held in Bldg D on the 3rd floor.




6 pm: PRIME TIME Family Reading Time @ Multicultural Center of the South

6:45 pm -- 2009 Louisiana Film Festival - Student Division @ Robinson Film Center

Juried screenings of more than 50 original short films created by kindergarten-12th grade students from across the United States, as well as special guest appearances by professional filmmakers screening and discussing some of their best-known films. Cash prizes will be awarded. April 5th, plus a screening of a special one-hour showcase of the winners. The RFC is located at 617 Texas St. in downtown Shreveport. The festival also runs on Saturday, beginning at 8:45 AM and then again on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 PM.

8 am: 23rd Annual Franklin Parish Catfish Festival @ Historic Downtown District (Winnsboro)

Fried catfish and other festival foods, live musical entertainment, family, North Louisiana Fiddling contest, arts and crafts, antique car show, flower show, quilt exhibition, the "Adrenaline Jam Tour," "Challenge 2 Adventure" and more. Admission is $3. For more info, call (318) 425-7607.




8 am: Ark-La-Tex Herb Society's Annual Plant Sale @ Highland Center

There will be an assortment of basil, thyme, sage, oregano, fennel, dill, rosemary, lavender, parsley, chives, plants that attract humming birds and bees and many others. 8 am: Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale @ Randle T. Moore Center

A wide selection of hydrangeas, perennials, shade plants, unique vines and fragrant herbs for sale. A variety of native plants grown by Master Gardeners will be available including iris, angel trumpet, Confederate rose and morning glory bush. There will be a gardening help clinic hosted by Denyse Cummins, LSU AgCenter horticulturist. This event is free. The RTM Center is located at 3101 Fairfield Ave. in Shreveport.




9 am: April Fools Baseball Tournament @ Cargill Park

11 am: Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Festival @ American Rose Center

Peter Cottontail is inviting children ages 1-10 to join him for the Garden's annual Easter egg hunt. Children should bring their own Easter baskets for the prize-filled egg hunt. There will also be Easter-themed games, refreshments and photos with Peter Cottontail. Rain date is scheduled for Sunday, April 5th. Cost is $10 per carload. 11 am: 18th MOPAR National Car Show @ First Baptist Church of Shreveport

11 am: Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana Pet Adoptions

12 pm: 13th Annual Natchitoches Jazz and R&B Festival Fund Raiser @ Prather Coliseum (Natchitoches)

Food, live and silent auction and entertainment by Johnny Earthquake and The Moondogs, Hardick Rivers, Lukejazz and others. Cost: $15, in advance; $20, at the door.




3 pm: Third Annual Cork Wine Tasting Festival @ Festival Plaza

Red River Revel Wine event featuring food, a wine seminar, wine tasting, live entertainment and more. There will be wine seminars from 1-3 p.m. The event is presented by Eldorado Resort Casino. All proceeds will benefit The Red River Revel Arts Festival. Must be 21. 7 pm: Junior Olympic Boxing Tournament @ Municipal Auditorium

The Road to Glory Stephens Boxing & Fitness will host "Battle of the South in the Port City," a live USA Boxing Junior Olympic and Senior Tournament. Athletes will compete in approximately 30-35 bouts each night during the tournament. The event also runs on Sunday, beginning at 4 pm. Cost: $10, per person; $17, two-day pass. 7:30 pm -- Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble @ Historic Perot Theatre (Texarkana)

"Dancing Through Barriers" is the focus of the 20 dancers as they showcase an inspiring interactive and familiar repertoire along with ballets created just for this inaugural tour. There will be a free mini-preview April 3 at noon, at the Downtown Post Office. Presented by Texarkana Community Ballet, National Endowment for the Arts, and Texarkana Black Chamber of Commerce.
