9:30 am - Life Line Screening @ St. Rest Baptist Church

Helping identify risk of stroke, vascular disease and osteoporosis before the catastrophic effects of these conditions can occur. Screenings to be provided will be Carotid Artery screening, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening, Peripheral Arterial Disease screening, Osteoporosis screening, Atrial Fibrillation screening. The event is open to local residents. The church is located at1664 Garden St. in Shreveport. Testing costs $139 for the five tests package; individual test will be available. 'The Last Lullaby' Premiere @ Regal Cinemas at the Boardwalk

6 am: Cypress Park Flea Market @ Cypress Black Bayou (Benton)

The flea market will include the sale of various products from quilts and crafts to concessions and other second-hand treasures. CBB is located at 135 Cypress Park Drive in Benton. 9 am: Le Tour Des Jardins 2009 @ Pioneer Heritage Center

The tour of six private gardens including one professional designed garden, located in Shreveport, Bossier and Benton. Also there will be a Garden Bazaar to be held at the Pioneer Heritage Center at LSUS. Tickets are available from any Master Gardener and Citizens National Bank. 9 am: Minden Crusin' for a Cure Car Show @ Minden Fairgrounds

This car show has become one of the fastest growing car shows in the South. All with the help of 100's of local car enthusiasts and 1000's of patrons participating every year. Healthcare professionals and area merchants will share their knowledge about the latest trends and options for moms-to-be. Attendees will meet pediatricians and obstetrics doctors as well as learn about car seat safety, safety at home, good nutrition for moms and babies and the newest trends for moms-to-be. There will be drawings every hour for prizes.



10 am: Cinco de Mayo Fiesta 2009 @ Festival Plaza

The annual Chihuahua Challenge, live entertainment, mariachi, family activities and plenty of food. This event runs again on Sunday.



11 am: Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana Pet Adoptions

The Alphas from LSU-S and Centenary conclude ALPHA WEEK with a night out at Adam’s Lounge. 4 pm: Fifth Annual Festival Encore @ First United Methodist Church

Music from the Centenary College Choir, the Chancel Choir of the church, and a full symphonic orchestra. The concert will complete this year's season of The Texas Street Arts Series. The church is located at 500 Common St. in Shreveport.






MONDAY, MAY 4TH


Mondays are Murder: The Films of Alfred Hitchcock @ Robinson Film Center

Every Monday in May, The Robinson Film Center will pay tribute to the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. A selection of Hitchcock films have been painstakingly restored in HD, re-mixed for 5.1 surround sound, and made available to theaters exclusively through this series.
