A twice monthly workshop for girls ages 10-18 and their parents, that will focus on and address topics which include positive self esteem, family values and the home, nutrition, hygiene and personal care, etiquette and attire. 6 pm: Alzheimer's Support Group Meeting @ Heritage Manor South

A group that will incorporate an emotional and spiritual approach as well as health education to help Alzheimer's caregivers and families to cope with the illness. Attendees are welcome to share their stories, experiences, and concerns. Kari Podboy will discuss Musical Therapy. Family members and caregivers are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. The King and Queen of Swing, Jimmy and Beverly Lynch will teach the Texas swing, ballroom, two Steppin,' swingo, second beat, line dances, wang with it, twist, shuffles and cha-cha. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH


9:30 am - Health and Wellness Fair @ LSUS Ballroom

Vendors will offer health screenings such as cholesterol testing, blood pressure measurements or body fat testing, as well as provide samples and educational materials. LifeShare Blood Center will be conducting a blood drive. The American Red Cross will provide flu shots for $20.00 and pneumonia shots for $30.00. Shots are for those with a Medicare Part B card. There will also ample giveaways and door prizes. There is plenty of room for vendors who wish to share their information, products and services with the LSUS campus and Shreveport/Bossier communities. 6 pm: March of Dimes 2008 Citizen of the Year Award Dinner @ Horseshoe Casino Riverdome

The March of Dimes Foundation will honor Sylvia K. Goodman. The evening includes a social hour, silent auction, and dinner. 100 glasses of champagne will be sold for one person to win a special piece of jewelry donated by Sid Potts. THURSDAY, NOVMEBER 6TH



9 am: AgFest @ Sci-Port Discovery Center

Come explore Louisiana agriculture by participating in hands-on activities that show how agriculture affects our lives and meet people with careers in agriculture. Area school children and general public will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive commodity demonstrations about cotton, beef, dairy, poultry, and forestry. 10 am: Humana Senior Days @ Louisiana State Fairgrounds

Humana will provide complimentary concession tickets to eligible seniors as well as giveaways. Seniors must present their Medicare ID cards and photo identification at the Humana booths to receive free concessions. Shuttle will be provided from the parking area.


6 pm: Understanding Financial Statements Workshop @ LSUS

The workshop will cover how to effectively use the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement. This course will cover all sections of the ACT including English, reading, math, and science as well as incorporating test-taking strategies. MBC Festivities will continue as the council kicks-off the Minority Business Opportunity Expo at the Municipal Auditorium . To empower and equip those battling cancer and survivors who know the perils of all forms of cancer. There will be five sessions that will last 20 minutes each.
